Another question about the du’a of Rajab

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I know – from your earlier post– that reciting the du’a of Rajab is permissible, but could it be believed to be sunnah?

Answer

The term sunnah has various meanings.

This du’a cannot be termed as sunnah as per the terminology of the fuqaha (jurists) and should therefore not be considered as such.

However, is it something that has been reported in the sunnah (i.e, Hadith)?

Yes, and is therefore worthy of practice.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
