Did ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) have a miscarriage?

I have read that that Sayyidatuna ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) might have had a miscarriage. Is there any proofs for this?

Answer

Imam Ibnul A’arabi has recorded a narration wherein Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) states that she had a miscarriage. However, Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al ‘Asqalani (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith extremely weak.

(Mu’jam Ibnul A’arabi, Hadith: 1928, Tahdhibut Tahdhib, vol. 12 pg. 436. Also see: Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 188 and Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 1 pg. 421)

The problematic narrator has also reported many fabrications. This should therefore not be quoted.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
