Another version of the Hadith on “Truthfulness leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah”

Is this narration authentic?

عليكم بالصدق فإنه مع البر وهما في الجنة وإياكم والكذب فإنه مع الفجور وهما في النار

Answer

Imams Ibn Majah, Ahmad and Ibn Hibban (rahimahumullah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr As Siddiq (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3849, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 3 and pg. 5, Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 5734)

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic.

Translation

[Always speak] the truth, for it is part of piety and they both will be in Jannah. Beware of [speaking] lies, for it is part of immorality and they both will be in the fire.

Imams Bukhari and Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded a similar a narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu). See it here
