An incident displaying the love Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) had for his grandson

Is this Hadith authentic?

It was narrated from Sa’id ibn Abi Rashid that Ya’la ibn Murrah told them that:

“They had gone out with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) to a meal to which they had been invited, and Husayn was there playing in the street. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) went in front of the people and stretched out his hands. The child started to run here and there. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) made him laugh until he caught him, then he put one hand under his chin and the other on his head and kissed him, and said:

“Husayn is part of me and I am part of him. May Allah love those who love Husayn. Husayn is one of my grandsons/a nation from among nations.”

Answer

Imams Ibn Majah, Ahmad and Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah (rahimahumullah) have recorded the complete incident.

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 144, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 172, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 32860)

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared the incident authentic. ‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of Ibn Majah sound (hasan).

(Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 6971, Zawaid Ibn Majah, Hadith: 33)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded the following part only and has declared the Hadith sound (hasan):

“Husayn is from me and I am from Husayn, may Allah love the one who loves Husayn, Husayn is one of my grandsons/a nation from among nations”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3775)
