Two types of knowledge

What is the authenticity of this narration?

Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “There are two types of knowledge. The first type is that knowledge which is in the heart of a person and this is the one that is beneficial knowledge. The second type is that knowledge which is on the tongue then it is this knowledge that will be used as evidence of Allah Ta’ala against a person.”

Answer

This narration has been recorded through a few chains on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir, Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) and Hasan Al Basri (rahimahullah) mursalan.

(Tarikh Baghdad, vol. 5  pg. 568, Jami’u Bayanil ‘Ilmi Wa Fadlihi, Hadith: 1150 and 1151, Kitabuz Zuhd of ‘Abdullah ibn Al Mubarak, Hadith: 1161,  Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 35502 and Nawadirul Usul, Hadith: 979)

Imam Darimi (rahimahullah) has also recorded this as the statement of Hasan Al Basri (rahimahullah).

(Sunan Darimi, Hadith: 376)

These chains when combined, gain collective strength. The Hadith is suitable to quote.
