Certain sins will deprive a person from experiencing the fragrance of Jannah

Is the following Hadith authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Most certainly, the fragrance of Jannah is perceived from a distance of a thousand years journey. By Allah! He who disobeys his parents, he who severs family ties, an old man who commits adultery, and he who allows his trousers to hang below his ankles will not experience the fragrance of Jannah.”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared two narrators in the chain extremely weak.

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 5660, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 8 pg. 149 and vol. 5 pg. 125. Also see: Targhib, vol. 3 pg. 91)

Note:

Other punishments have also been recorded in authentic Hadiths for those who perpetrate the sins mentioned in the Hadith in question.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
