Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)’s personal advisers, Abu Bakr and ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma)

Is this narration reliable?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“My two ministers from the inhabitants of the earth are Abu Bakr and ‘Umar”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al Khudri (radiyallahu ‘anhu). He has declared the narration sound (hasan).

The full Hadith is as follows:

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Every Nabi had two ministers/advisers in the sky and two ministers/advisers on earth. My advisers in the sky are Jibril and Mikail (‘alayhimas salam) and my advisers on earth are Abu Bakr and ‘Umar”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3680. Also see: Siyaru A’alamin Nubala, vol. 28 pg. 73)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
