‘Abdullah ibn Salam (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was once engaged in household duties. The reason he did so was to test his humility

Answer

Imam ‘Abdullah ibn Mubarak (rahimahullah) has recorded this incident. The full incident is as follows:

‘Abdullah ibn Salam (radiyallahu ‘anhu) once came out of a garden carrying a bundle of wood. When people saw him they told him, O Abu Yusuf! your son or servant would have taken of it for you. He replied, ‘I wished to test my heart, [will it be too proud] to reject this act”?
