Please provide the reference for the following du’a:

 بسم الله, اللهم إني أسألك خير هذه السوق و خير ما فيها و أعوذبك من شرها و شر ما فيها, اللهم إني أعوذ بك أن أصيب فيها صفقة خاسرة

Bismillah, allahuma ini asaluka khayra hadhihis suqi wa khayra ma fiha wa a’adhubika min shariha wa shari ma fiha, allahuma ini a’adhubika an usiba fiha safaqatan khasiratan

Answer

This du’a has been recorded in the following Hadith sources as a du’a to be recited when entering a shopping/business area.

‘Amalul Yawmi wal Laylah of Ibnus Sunni, Hadith: 181 and Mustadrak Hakim, vol.1 pg. 539. Also see Al-Adkar, Hadith: 947.

Translation:

In the name of Allah. O Allah I ask from you, the good of this market place and the good that is in it. I seek refuge in you from its evil and the evil that is in it. O Allah I seek your protection from attaining a bad deal.
