None is born a Scholar

Is the following narration authentic?

Answer

Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) and others have recorded this statement of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with a reliable chain. This narration is therefore suitable to quote.

(Az Zuhd, Hadith: 899)

Translation

‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) says:

“None is born a Scholar. You only gain knowledge by learning”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
