Sayyiduna Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn Al Jarrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu)

Can you please clarify the following regarding Abu Ubaydah ibn Jarrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu). What was his actual name and when did he pass away?

Answer

Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn Al Jarrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was an illustrious companion of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). He had participated in Badr, Uhud and all other campaigns of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). He is from the ‘Asharah Mubassharah, the ten Sahabah given glad tidings of Jannah.

His full name is, ‘Amir ibn ‘Abdillah ibn Al Jarrah, his title Abu ‘Ubaydah. He was known as ‘The trustworthy one of this Ummah’

He had passed away in the 18th year after Hijrah during the plague of ‘Amwas at the age of 58. Sayyiduna Mu’adh ibn Jabal (radiyallahu ‘anhu) had performed his Janazah.
