The rights of an elder brother over his younger siblings

Is the following a Hadith?

“The rights of an elder brother that are due to be fulfilled by a younger brother is the same rights as a child has to fulfill for his Father?

Answer

Sayyiduna Sa’id ibn Al ‘As (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The right that the elder brother enjoys over his younger brothers is the same right the father enjoys over his son”

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 7553, Musnadul Firdaws, Hadith: 2673)

‘Allamah Iraqi (rahimahullah) has declared this Hadith as weak.

(Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 2068. Also see Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 8 pg. 149 and Al Mudawi, Hadith: 3744/1577)

‘Allamah Munawi (rahimahullah) explains that just as the father deserves respect, honour and obedience so too does the elder brother over his younger siblings.

(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 3744)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
