Begging despite not being needy

Please provide the Hadith warning against begging without being needy.

Answer

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“He who begs merely to increase his wealth, is actually asking for hot coals, so [he should decide whether to] increase or decrease the coals”

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1041)

Kindly see here for more narrations prohibiting begging.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best
