Cupping on the head and shoulders

Is the following Hadith authentic?

Sayyiduna Abu Kabshah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) used to undergo cupping on the head and between his shoulders and used to say “Whosoever removes this blood it will not harm him that he does not take any other medical treatment/medicine”

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration.

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 3855)

This narration will be classified as sound –hasan– by Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) according to his principle.

(Refer: Hidayatur Ruwat, Hadith: 4468)

However, one should be extremely cautious and only consult a professional when doing cupping on the head. Imam Ma’mar, the famous teacher of Imam ‘Abdur Razzaq (rahimahumallah) had lost his memory -temporarily- after undergoing cupping on his head .

(Refer: Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 19817, Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 3856)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
