An unauthentic virtue of reciting the Quran

I read a Hadith  that a person who recites the Quran patiently will marry a maiden of paradise for every letter in the Quran. Is this authentic?

Answer

The complete narration is as follows:

The Quran has one million and twenty seven thousand letters, whomsoever recites it patiently and anticipating reward, will get a Hur (maiden of Jannah) for every letter.

(Tabarani in Al Mu’jamul Awsat: Hadith: 6612)

The Muhaddithun have declared the above narration as false (batil), therefore it is not suitable to be quoted.

There are numerous other authentic virtues for reciting the Quran, which is actually every muslim’s duty.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
