A follow up query regarding the translation of a narration on the virtue of Surah Ikhlas

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Regarding my question on the translation of this:

من قرأ قل هو الله أحد عشر مرات في دبر كل صلاة الغداة لم يلحق به ذلك اليوم ذنب، وإن جهد الشيطان

You have translated it as:

“Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu’anhu) said: ‘Whoever recites Surah ikhlas ten times daily after Fajr, will not fall into sin on that day, even if Shaytan tries his utmost [to lure him to do so].

But my question is why isn’t the word “Fajr”  mentioned in the orginal Arabic text because I don’t see this word mentioned in it.

Kindly see the previous question here.

Answer

Dear Brother, I admire your enthusiasm. However, you seem to be confused with some Hadith translations. This is because of your shallow understanding of the Arabic language. I am unaware of your scholarly position/qualification, but I do suggest that you avoid reading highly academic books on your own accord. This leads to the confusion you are currently experiencing.

Having said all of the above, I still welcome your Hadith queries and appreciate your zeal.

With regards to the question at hand, the words ‘salatul ghadat’ (صلاة الغداة) in the Arabic language literally refers to the ‘morning prayer’ which is the Fajr Salah. This is common knowledge among the Hadith Scholars.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
