Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) learning Iman first, then Quran

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I often hear that the Sahabah learnt Iman first and then the Quran. Is this a Hadith? If so, what is the source?

Answer

This is recorded as a statement of Sayyiduna Jundub ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu’anhu) in Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 61, Al-Mu’jamul Kabir of Imam Tabarani, Hadith: 1678 & Shu’abul Imam of Bayhaqi, Hadith: 50

‘Allamah Busiri (rahimahullah) has declared this as authentic (sahih) and all it’s narrators as reliable.
(Misbahuz Zujajah, Hadith: 23)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
