The Muhaddithun have not found a chain of narrators for the narration in question.
(Tabaqatush Shafi’iyyah of ‘Allamah Subki -rahimahullah-, vol. 6 pg. 354. Also see Al Mughni ‘an Hamlil Asfar, hadith: 3487)
One should abstain from quoting a narration until its authenticity can be verified.
However, ‘Allamah Zabidi (rahimahullah) has recorded similar statements in his commentary on Ihya ‘Ulumid Din as the sayings of Imam Shafi’i and Ibn Shihab Az Zuhri (rahimahumallah). These should be quoted instead.
