A Hadith on hair extensions

Is this Hadith authentic?

When Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) came to Madinah for the last time and delivered a khutbah he took out a lock of hair and said, ‘I thought that no one did this [i.e. use false hair] except Jews. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) labelled such practice, [i.e. the use of false hair extensions], as cheating.

Answer

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration. The Hadith is therefore authentic.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3488, 5938)

Note: I have merely answered your question regarding the reliability of the narration. Kindly refer to a reputable Mufti/Darul Ifta for a legal ruling on hair extensions.
