Question:
Assalaamu ‘Alaikum.
A popular cosmetic brand in India called Himalaya Herbals, states in its
website that 2 of its products contain alcohol while the rest are alcohol-free.
Therefore, except those 2 products, is it pemissible to use the other products
of the same brand?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Synthetic alcohol which is used in cosmetics, lotions
etc. is permissible.
Such alcohols (as long as they are not sourced from
dates or grapes) for external use in the form of medicines or beauty products
are permissible to use provided the remaining ingredients are Halaal.
