Salatul Hajat after Fajr & Asr, & reciting AlKahf on Friday

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwa-TT.com
Question:

I have two questions

Can we offer salatul hajat after fajar or Asar prayer.

Is there specific time to Recite surah al Kahaf on Friday. I have heard that it should be read before Jumma prayer as its sunnah to read at that time.

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

1)Salat ul Hajat is a Nafl(voluntary) Salah. It is Makrooh (disliked) to offer any Nafl Salaah which includes Salat ul Hajat after Fajr till sunrise and after Asr till sunset.1,2

2)    There are many virtues regarding the recitation of Surah al Kahf on Fridays.

Rasulullah Sallahu Alahi Wasallam said:

عن أبي سعيد الخدري أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : من قرأ سورة الكهف في يوم الجمعة أضاء له من النور ما بين الجمعتين

(سنن البيهقي الكبرى)

“Whoever reads Surah al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, a light will shine from him(noor) from one Friday to the next.”(Sunan Al Kubra lil Bayhaqi- Vol: 3- Pg: 353 –Ilmiyyah)

There is no specific time to recite Surah al Kahf on Friday. However, it is preferable to recite Surah al Kahf after Maghrib on Thursday.3

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
