Q. I understand the fatwa given regarding credit cards and Jazakallah for providing that information to us. However, my question is regarding the Visa Money Travel Card. Is this permissible? Although it says it is not a credit card there is a commission percentage being charged for the amount loaded unto the card and a currency conversion fee percentage.
A. The commission percentage is a fee which is not interest and the currency conversion fee is also a fee which is not interest. Hence, it will be allowed to use the Visa Money Travel Card.
