PERFORMING WITR SALAH IN CONGREGATION

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

QUESTION:

 As Salaamu Alaikum,

My question is about the Witr Salaat in Ramadan.
I am a Follower of the Hanafi Fiqh/madhab.

I know that you get very much reward if you join the witr Jamaat
in Ramadan but I pray it most time alone after 8 Rakaat of Tahajjud/Salat ul layl because it’s too a Sunnah of Rasulullah.

Yes he did it to because it would be Fard for us if he always prayed the Taraweeh and the Witr together in Jamaat but it is still a Sunnah and I wanted to know because some People than call one a Wahhabi if he pray it alone, Are they allow to says that?

ANSWER:

 Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

Performing Witr salah in congregation after the Taraweeh salah is a specialtiy of the blessed month of Ramadhan and this is what has been established in the Ummah from the time of Umar (RA) until today. In fact, on this, there is Ijma of the Muslims. The Fuqaha have referred to it as being Mustahab and Afdhal (more virtous). As such, this is what one shoud do. However, if one performs the witr after the tahajjud salah, then it is allowed and good. One should not be called by any name for doing this. (Maraqi Al Falaah; Al Bahr Ar Raa’iq).

And Allah knows best
