Virtues of Surah Yaseen

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Question: Dear Mufti Sahab, can you give some of the virtues of Surah Yaseen?

Answer:

Assalamu alaikum,

With respect to the virtues of Surah Yaseen, it is narrated from Ma’qal bin Yasar (R.A) who narrated from the Prophet (s.a.w) ‘Surah Yaseen is the heart of the Quran. Whoever recites it with the intention of earning blessings for the hereafter will be forgiven by Allah. Recite it upon your deceased’. (Recorded by An Nasai, Ahmad and Abu Dawood. Ibn Hibban narrated it and said it was Saheeh (Sound). Hakim also narrated it and said that it was Saheeh (sound)). In the Hadith narrated by Anas (R.A), it is stated that whoever recites it one time, he receives the blessings as if he had recited the Quran ten times. (Recorded by Tirmidhi).

In the Hadith narrated by Jundub (R.A), it is narrated that whoever recites it at night for the pleasure of Allah, he will be forgiven by Allah. (Ibn Hibban, Ibn Sunni). It is recorded in the narration of Ata that the Prophet (s.a.w) said, ‘Whoever recites Surah Yaseen in the beginning of the day, then his needs shall be fulfilled. (Recorded by Darimi with a sound Sanad).

The scholars have written many virtues of Surah Yaseen. In this regard, Harith bin Abu Usama has narrated a Marfoo hadith in his Musnad in which it is stated, ‘Whoever recites Surah Yaseen when he is fearful, then he will receive safety and protection. If he is sick, he will become cured. If he is in starvation, then Allah will provide sustenance for him.’ Some scholars have also mentioned that whoever recites Surah Yaseen in the beginning of the day, then he will be blessed with goodness and happiness until the evening, and whoever recites it in the beginning of the night, then he will be blessed with goodness and happiness until the morning.

And Allah Knows Best.
