Is one obliged to give one’s wife pocket money over and above maintenance costs?

Your query below refers;

1. Giving the wife a certain amount of money for herself (i.e.pocket money) is advisable and falls into the broad teachings of the Sharia regarding being good and kind to one’s wife. Many of the great Ulama have advised the same and one should try to implement this in one’s marriage. This will Inshallah make the relationship more harmonious. Notwithstanding this, it is not a seperate obligation that the Sharia has placed upon one. It is however, advisable.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
