Q: What is the ruling regarding copyright etc?

You may refer to an interesting Arabic article written by Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Sb (D.B.) on this subject. The article is included in Mufti Saheb’s Buhooth Fi Qadhaayaa Fiqhiya Mu’aasara. His conclusion is that copyright is a right that Sharia recognises and infringing on this right is thus impermissible.
