Reading duas in the bathroom

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Reading duas in the bathroom

Answer:

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Hazrat Maulana Khalid Saifullah in his Kitabul Fatawa has said that if between the toilet and sink there is some sort of barrier or partition, then the bathroom will be considered as two different places, hence it will be permissible to read the dua of wudu in the bathroom. Furthermore, Hazrat quoting a passage from Allahmah Ibn Abideen Shami’s [rahi]mahu Raddul Muhtar (p.557 v.1) has said that if the toilet area is clean and purified from any filth then it will be permissible to read such duas verbally. However, one can read it silently in his heart if he wishes. (p. 43 v.2)
