Saw a dream after my husband gave me three talaqs

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Assalamo Alaikum, please help me with my query. My husband said talaq talaq talaq to you. I took it as 3 talaqs but as I was confused, I did istikharah and I had a dream where I saw that I went to visit my ex-husband, his cousin saw me in the hall and got scared but then asked me if I wanted to see his cousin and I said yes, he was going upstairs but then asked me if I wanted to go upstairs or should he call his cousin down. I said I will go upstairs. I went upstairs and saw my ex-husband sleeping in a bed, we hugged each other but there was another man in the room on a separate bed who said that I am still in my husband’s nikah and that my talaq is void as he said the words talaq under the influence of black magic. In reality my ex-husbands brother admited that he did black magic to break us. Please tell me the meaning of my dream

Answer:

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

In Islam if in a dream there is an order or command which is in accordance with the laws of Sharia, then it will only be a source of evidence for the person himself and it will not be implemented on others. If the command is contrary to the Sharia, it will not be considered as a source of evidence and nor would it be acted upon by the person who saw it.

Regarding your question, all the Schools of Thought agree that three talaqs are considered to be three. There is a detailed fatwa on this issue on the Darul Ifta Birmingham website. Therefore, as the dream you saw conflicts with the Sharia, it would not be acted upon by yourself and you will remain unlawful for your husband.
