Ya Noor after Salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Some people after salah read ya noor 11 times, is this practice correct? And what is the proof because some people object it and some say that it is praiseworthy.

In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful.

Answer

The Quran and Ahadith are full of instructions for the Muslims to remember Allah. Allah says: “Remember me and I will remember you, and be thankful to me, and do not be ungrateful to me” (Surah Al Baqarah: 152). There are many wazifas that through the experience of pious predecessors have proven to be of spiritual and physical benefit. Reciting Ya Noor is under this category. Allah states in the Quran: “Allah’s are the excellent names, therefore invoke him by them” (Surah Al Araf: 180). These will be permissible to recite as long as one does not believe it to be Sunnah; otherwise it will be considered as innovation.
