Qur’an on MP3 Player

Answer

It is permissible to store the Qur’an or Qur’anic verses on MP3 players as long as they are in separate files to that of music files.

In regards to the second question it is permissible to touch the MP3 player or even the actual words without wudhu. The scholars have done “qiyaas” (analogical reasoning) on taweez (amulets) that the same way it is permissible to enter the toilet with taweezes which are covered, similarly the MP3 player is considered covered hence it will be permissible to touch it and take it to the toilet as well. (Kitabul Fiqh p78 v1)

Saaiduna Saeed Ib Musayyib Radiaallahu anhu was asked regarding taweez he replied, “There is nothing wrong with it as long as it is wrapped in leather” (Musannaf Ibn Shaibah P439 v5)
