Can a person who does not fast partake in the Iftar provided by other brothers

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

In our local Masjid some brothers contribute money to provide food for Iftaar in the masjid including one of my friends who does not fast (due to sickness), will it be permissible for him to partake in the food provided.

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

As long as there is clear or implied consent, it will be permissible for the brother who does not fast (due to sickness) to partake in the food provided.

Saaiduna Ibn Umar Radiallahu Anhu reported that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam forbade a man eating two dates together till he seeks permission of his companions. (Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)
