Am I still required to fast in this situation?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Asalamualaikum. If a woman is on her haidh and it is her 9th day, it is also the 1st night of ramadhan. She feels her pad is clear after having ghusl at 3am. She even offers isha quickly at 3.30am, and then she eats sehri and makes niyat of ramadhan fast. After fajar azan she goes to the washroom for making wudhu and finds yellow spot. she realizes her haidh had not stopped even after the 3am ghusl. What is the status of her fast now? Has it been invalidated or should she fast the whole day? Can she eat anything? She already broke her fast by drinking water soon after seeing the yellow spot.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Answer

If your habit is six days and then in that particular month you bleed more than ten days, your habit will remain the same i.e. six days and the surplus blood will be considered as istihadaah.

However, if you bleed more than your habit, but less than ten days, for example up to nine days then the following month your habit will be nine days. (Fatawa Hindiyyah p.37 v.1)

Therefore, in the following situation the yellow blood you saw will be considered as period blood. (Hidayah p.63 v1)

If you started your fast then your fast will be broken and you will be required to do qadha after the month of Ramadan. (Beshti Zewar p.59 v.2)
