Is it permissible for women to get a piercing anywhere beside the normal lower lobe?

Question:

I would like to ask which ear piercings in Islam are permitted for women, besides the normal lower lobe piercings? Are others, such as the helix, cartilage etc. allowed? As some of these (such as the upper lobe and the auricle piercing) don’t really look like mutilations nor are they that painful, would they still be classed as haraam?

Answer:

In The Name Of Allah, The Most-Merciful, The Most Kind

There is no restriction on any part of the ears from being pierced from the fatawa discussing the piercing of the ears of women.

References:

“I say, if it [i.e. piercing the nose to wear a nose ring] is considered an adornment for women like in some [Muslim] communities, then its ruling will be similar to the ruling of piercing the ear to wear an earring [i.e. permitted].” (Radd al-Muhtar ala ‘l-Durr al-Mukhtar, 6/420)

“There is nothing wrong with women piercing their ears… And there is [also] nothing wrong with having the ears of young girls pierced because this was done in the time of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) without any condemnation.” (Al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya, 5/357)
