Question:

There is a sister who is losing hope in Allah because she was betrayed by a man. She feels that Allah has betrayed her and she cannot focus on her salah. When she starts praying all she can think about is that man. What should she do?

Answer:

In The Name Of Allah, The Most-Merciful, The Most Kind

Allah loves us and as believers we believe everything is from Allah. Whatever has happened in the past was the will of Allah and maybe Allah has something better in store for her. One should never lose hope in Allah, our life in this world is a test from Allah and if we pass this small test then we will be happy forever in Jannah. Allah mentions in the Quran:

“Blessed is He in whose hand is the dominion, and he is able to do all things. Who has created death and life that He may test you which of you is best in deeds? And He is the almighty, the most forgiving.” (Surah Al Mulk, Ayah 1)

From the above ayah we learn that all the things of this temporary world are a test and Allah just wants to see who from us will turn to Him and ask Him. Our real-life is the life of the hereafter where there is no deception or any kind of grief, just pure joy and happiness. The happiness there will be forever and ever as we can see from Surah al A’ala:

“And the akhirah is better for you and forever.”

Allah knows what a person is going through and waits for a person to ask from Him. Allah says in the Quran,

“When my slave ask about me indeed I am close, I answer the call of the caller when he calls”

Surah Al Baqara (Ayah 186)

Allah says in another ayah, “And do not lose hope in the mercy of Allah; indeed none lose hope in the mercy of Allah except the most ungrateful people.”

Surah al Yusuf (Ayah 87)

Allah’s mercy is so much so that one cannot even imagine. Allah says in another ayah,

“My mercy embraces all things.”

Surah al ‘Araf (Ayah 156)

In conclusion, one should not lose hope in Allah or His mercy, for verily Allah alone is the only one who can solve our difficulties. Allah is all watching and hearing and knows what a person is going through. We can plan or think whatever we like but Allah is certainly the best of planners. As long as we keep on having faith and hope in His mercy, then most definitely His help will come in such a manner that we couldn’t have even imagined. Keep praying to Allah and ask Allah to protect us from the whispers of Shaytan.

May Allah protect you, preserve you and make all your difficulties easy. Ameen.

Only Allah knows best
