Question:

Is it permissible to go to a theme park?

Answer:

In The Name Of Allah, The Most-Merciful, The Most Kind

It is not permissible to go to places of entertainment where sins are being committed, such as the intermingling of men and women or music.

The Sharia has given us alternative places which we can visit, such as going for Umrah to the blessed city of Makkah.

Saaiduna Abu Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu narrates that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said, ‘An Umrah to another Umrah will be redemption of sins for whatever (minor) occurs between them.’ (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

Saaiduna Ibn Abbas Radiallahu Anhu narrates that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said, ‘Umrah performed in the month of Ramadhaan will equal (in rewards) to that of Hajj or Hajj performed with me (SAW).’ (Bukhari, Muslim)

Saaidah Aisha Radiallahu Anha said that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said, ‘Whoever leaves his home only for the purpose of Hajj or Umrah and he dies, nothing will be presented to him nor will he have any accountability on the Day of Reckoning and it will be said to him, enter into Jannah.’ (Tabraani and Sunan Baihaqi)

Saaiduna Anas bin Malik Radiallahu Anhu said, ‘The pilgrims and those who perform Umrah are the delegations of Allah. He will give them whatever they ask for, answer their supplications and He will give them better than what they spend. Every Dirham will be multiplied by a thousand. (Sunan Baihaqi)
