In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

Sick people when their health is likely to be badly affected by fasting they should make up the loss, a day for a day when they recover after Ramadhaan. (Ta’leemul Haq, pg; 161)

If the person’s situation is such that by not taking the medication it will affect their health severely, then they may take the tablets while their fasting. However, consuming the tablets still breaks the fast thus making Qadha necessary (make up for the fact they missed).

Only Allah knows best.
