Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

What is reward/virtue of doing Qurbani on behalf of our Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W), his wives, all Prophets before him and sahaba

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Performing qurbani on behalf of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is considered nafl (voluntary) and such there is great reward in doing so.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself performed Qurbani on behalf of his Ummah and family members – both the living and deceased. In the narration recorded by Imam Muslim, the Prophet (peace be upon him) laid down the ram, and slaughtered it saying, “In the name of Allah! O Allah, accept from Muhammad, the family of Muhammad and the Ummah of Muhammad.”[1]

Maulana Zafar Ahmad Usmani (may Allah have mercy on him) states that whosoever is capable of performing Qurbani on behalf of his beloved Messenger (peace be upon him) every year should do so whether by sacrificing a small animal or one-seventh of a large one. We ask Allah to enable us in doing so always, Ameen.[2]

Only Allah SWT alone knows best.
