Is playing musical instruments like the violin prohibited in Islam?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

Musical instruments like the violin are haram to play in Islam, as stated by the majority of scholars across all four schools of thought.[1]

And Allah SWT alone knows best.
