Which one is more better?, abundance of Tawafs or of Umrah ?

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

What is a better act? One tawaf every day/a couple of tawafs every day or an umrah every day during your stay in the blessed haram? Which holds more value in the court of Allah?

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Umrah is more rewardable than the Tawaf as Tawaf is a component of the Umrah, however, there are two points one must consider. Firstly that it is more prudent not to spend time and expense continually leaving travelling to the Meeqaat positions and to re-enter with ihraam when one can better use that time to pray at the haram and do as many Tawaf as possible. In that case, one could have circumambulated the Kaba and prayed at the Haram many times over instead of spending time travelling back and forth to the Meeqaat point.

The second reason is that the Prophet (pbuh) performed many Tawaf but never left Makkah to return for the sole purpose of repeating Umrah[1]. The Prophet (pbuh) was reported in a hadith narrated by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made umrah a total of four times in separate years. Despite this, if one is able to do this, the Quran leaves this open in general wording that one may perform Umrah. However, one must leave the sanctuary (Haram) and re-enter to perform the Umrah once again as stated in al-Durr al-Mukhtar.

Only Allah Ta’ala knows best.

It is stated in al-Durr al-Mukhtar, an authoritative reference of Sacred Law according to the Hanafi school” For anyone inside the haram of Makkah, the miqat (legal boundary for ihram of Hajj or Umrah) is to go outside the haram of Makkah (what’s referred to as ‘Al-Hill’). By doing so, one achieves some form for travel (fulfilling the travel requirement of Hajj/Umrah). The best place to do this is al-Tan’eem (now known as Masjid A’isha).”
