Is Nikaah misyar permissible?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question:

My question is, is Nikaah misyar permissible?

Answer:

In The Name Of Allah, The Most-Merciful, The Most Kind

NikaahMisyar is an official marriage contract in which the spouses give up one or more of their rights by their free will. For example, the women might be asked to give up her right to getting financial support (nafaqa) or the right to housing (sukna). Sometimes NikaahMisyar is for a stipulated time and ends in a divorce.

Nikaah Misyar being permissible or not depends on each individual case also if all the basic requirements for a standard Islamic marriage are fulfilled.
