Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Can we recite Surah Fatiha in an audible prayer behind the imam in Hanbali Madhab? If not, please answer it with details according to Hanbali madhab.

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

According to the ḥanbali madhab, a person is not required to recite sūrah al-fātiḥah when he is praying with an imām. He may only recite it when the imām is not reciting loudly.[1]
