Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

What is the ruling on people who don’t class certain works of deen as deen? E.g. People who say Tablighi Jamaat is the only work of deen.

They don’t accept Darul Ulooms as work of deen, Madrasahs as work of deen, they show hatred towards Ulama.

Is that Kufr? Bid’ah? Tahreef?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Such people are incorrect when they restrict the works of dīn in this way, but we should interpret their words in the best possible manner and avoid passing rulings or verdicts on them [1]. These people should be advised in a sincere manner. The Prophet is reported to have said: “Whoever believes in Allāh and the Last Day, should speak what is good or keep silent.” [2]
