Should I remove all my clothes before wrapping on my ihram?

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

I am aware that you cannot wear any seen clothes whilst in Ihram. However, when changing into Ihram can you take off your underwear¸once the bottom Halifax of your Ihram has been tied or do you have to take off your underwear before you tie the bottom half of your Ihram. JazakAllah

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

A person enters the state of ihram once he wraps the two cloths on and starts reciting the talbiyyah with the intention of Hajj or Umrah. To only wrap the cloths on will not make one enter the state of ihram.[1] Therefore, whether you first take your undergarments off, or wrap your ihram on first, both ways are valid.
