Asalamalikum.

I ask about if something cause harm slow over time is it allowed in  Islam. Example soda not benefit and cause harm like diabetes and brittle bones etc with chronic use over time.

Or other prescription medication that harm body w side effects  over time slowly  are these things allowed in Islam

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Anything, which is fundamentally and directly harmful, is impermissible in Islam. As for medicines, they may only be harmful if misused, such as overdose or unnecessary intake. However, something which causes harm over a period of time will not be considered unlawful in Islam.

Only Allah knows best.
