Khushu in Salaah

Question:

Asalaamoalaikum

Ive heard in a bayaan that the first thing to be lifted up is khushu in salaat.  Ive also heard in a bayaan that your reward for salaat is based on your level of khushu, so you may get a half, a third, a tenth and so on.  The Shaykh also said a salaat without khushu is thrown back in your face.

I’m getting quite hopeless now that when I usually pray salaat I try very hard to have the feelings of khushu but they don’t come and i feel frustrated and hopeless that my salaat is rejected.

So is it correct to say if you don’t pray salaat you are going to get punished and if you do pray if you don’t have khushu you will also be punished even if you tried to develop khushu.

Please advise as it is causing me great concern.

Jazakallah

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In response to your question;

The concept of Khushu’ during Salah is such that a person should put in all efforts from her/his side to attain this, as Salah really should be performed with great concentration and humility in order for it to be accepted and effective.

If you are putting in all efforts to pray with Khushu’ then your doings will not go in vain and Salah will be accepted as you have tried your utmost best, according to your capability.
