Marriage breaking because of a potential blasphemous remark

Question:

In a quarrel, a husband was very angry and he swore at Allah SWT with a bad word. The wife was there and she heard him and as far as she remembers the bad word was the name of an animal. But she has sometimes doubt about the exact word but she is sure that the husband called Allah with a bad name. A few years later, when asked, the husband said he also remembers he said a bad (blasphemous) word about Allah but does not exactly remember the statement. In this case, was their marriage broken when the husband used such a word about Allah SWT? What if he does not remember the exact phrase but is sure that it was a bad thing to say?

Answer:

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

The husband should make sincere tawbah (repentance) to Allah SWT for this major sin, and he should renew his Islam and nikah.[1]

And Allah SWT alone knows best.
