Question:

My mum deceived me while I was  getting engaged. She broke my engagement as well with help of my brother. She told lies, she was the person I have trusted most in my life. I always have dreams when I am walking with my family members mums eyes transformed into wild animals. I can neither love her not hate her, she is extremely materialistic chatting with her. Do I have a right to stop seeing her though personally she loves for me to stay with my older brother.

Answer:

Bismillah

Islam is a religion that encourages love and affection, and discourages enmity and hatred.

Islam encourages us to maintain ties with non Muslim family members as well. When Islam encourages maintaining ties with non Muslim family members, then to a greater extent we are required to maintain ties with our Muslim family members.

It is advisable that you exercise tolerance and forbearance with your mother despite the way she has treated you and inshaAllaah you will be rewarded for your patience.
