Continuous bleeding prior to Salah

Question:

Salam Shaikh,

I was bleeding yesterday for 10/15 minutes before salah. Just before salah, I put a plaster on my hand (blood is still coming out) and just wiped over the plaster. Will my salah and wudhu be valid? Can one do masah on plaster when flowing blood is exiting?

JazakAllah

Answer:

Bismillah

A person will be excused from washing a bleeding limb in wudhu and permitted to wipe over a plaster/bandage and perform the salah when the following 2 conditions are met:

  1. One complete salah time lapses and the blood continues to flow. (One should delay the salah until so much time remains in which he could perform the compulsory acts of wudhu and offer his fardhsalah)

  2. The bleeding does not stop long enough to preform wudhu and the salah.

If any of the above 2 conditions are not met, it will not be permissible to wipe over the plaster, hence the wudhu and the salah will not be valid. (BahishtiZewar, Page 78-79, Maktaba Bait-Ul-Ilm&ThamaratunNajaah, Page 164, Zamzam Publishers)

In regards to your question, if the salah in question was being performed in the final moments of that salah time, the wiping and the salah will be valid.
