Is earning commission on sale/purchase of vehicles/properties halal for Muslims?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
My question is regarding the income from property dealing which comes as 1 or 2 percent commission. Is it halal or not permissible haram for Muslims? If we earn commission on sale purchase of vehicles or properties is it permissible or halal for us or not. Please guide me in the light of the holy Quran and Hadith.

Answer

(Fatwa: 985/992/N=1433)

It is lawful as per the Shariah to do brokerage and take the commission as per the percentage from the person for whom brokerage is done for the sale and purchase of the property or vehicles etc keeping oneself away from deception and cheating. Thus the amount of the commission will be lawful and halal. (Islam Aur Jadid Masail 2:200-201)
