Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
My wife’s sister is married having four children. Her husband is only earning member. They are managing their daily needs somehow; even they are not able to pay the house rent on time. Now they are marrying their elder daughter. They have taken loan for their daughter’s marriage. Can I pay zakah for her marriage or I arrange ornament for her daughter’s marriage from my zakah money? Please guide us.

Answer

(Fatwa: 1217/796/H=1433)

It is haram to take interest based loan. You must not give your zakah to spend in marriage as zakah shall not be paid by it. However if his daughter is entitled to receive zakah and you give her jewellery from your zakah amount and make her its owner and give it in her complete possession then zakah shall be paid.
